1) General
a) This championship is organised under the regulation issued by “F.I.S.L.Y.” (ISRR and Appendixes) and the special rules issued by the organizing committee and authorities.
b) By participation to the EC, each pilot declares his/her approval of all of the rules in this document (General conditions of participation EC 2025).
c) We welcome you to our European Championship there are beach rules that must be adhered to for the safety of both the pilot and the general public using our beach.
d) We also have a beach licence that has strict conditions on when we can sail and must not be ignored.
e) It is important to read and understand the rules and you will be asked on registration to acknowledge that you have read and understand them failing to do this will mean disqualification from the competition.
f) The programme for the championships will have all the times stated for both practise and competition please read it. Any sailing outside these times is strictly prohibited. this includes taking a Landyacht onto the beach.
g) We wish you a good and safe competition.
In addition
h) Competitors will act in such a way as not to ever endanger others.
i) Competitors will adhere to following all instructions by the organising committee, the race direction and the authorities.
j) Competitors will obtain permission from the Race Director before accessing the beach with landyachts
k) Competitors are aware that the non-respect of such rules can lead to disqualification (races and/or event) or prohibition to start.
l) Competitors are aware of their obligation to restore all damages caused by themselves (be they voluntary, by carelessness, or through their behaviour) to the material of the organising committee.
m) No Reckless sailing: Refrain from engaging in reckless behaviour such as aggressive sailing, stunts, or dangerous manoeuvres. Maintain control of the landyacht at all times and drive responsibly. Any form of racing or unauthorised competitions should be strictly prohibited unless in the allotted race times.
n) Competitor shall respect designated areas, Landyachts should only be operated in designated areas specifically designated for their use. Follow any signage or instructions provided by the beach marshal team regarding the boundaries and permitted zones for landyachts.
o) Competitors shall yield to Pedestrians, respect the right of way of pedestrians and other beach visitors. Landyachts should yield to individuals walking, Dog walking, or engaging in any other beach activities. Maintain a safe distance from people or animals to prevent accidents or disturbances.
p) Competitors are not permitted within one hundred metres of people on foot
q) Competitors are not permitted within 300 metres of any wader roost roosting birds or horses
r) Remember, these rules are meant to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all beach visitors. Always be courteous and respectful to others while enjoying the landyacht experience. s) Statement. The invalidity or un-enforceability of any provisions of this agreement shall not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision of this Agreement, which shall remain in full force and effect.
2) Event briefing
a) It is obligatory for all participating pilots to attend the general briefing on Sunday 28th September at TBA at the Hoylake Sailing Club.
3) Daily briefing
a) A pilots briefing for all classes will be held on the beach near the technical zone at the start of each racing day to define the circuits, start lines, start order etc... Specific or last minute information on the event will be announced at this time too. Pilots and yachts are expected to be in the technical zone and ready to sail 30 minutes BEFORE the announced time of (race) briefing. The running order for the first day will be announced at the daily briefing of the first day. In principal, the starting order for all the consecutive days will be announced at the price giving the day before and be posted on the ONB.
4) Race Briefing
a) Before the start of each race, the circuit race director will hold a race specific briefing on the race track. Language of these race briefings will be English + French. This briefing is mandatory. Race times are approximate and will depend on weather and tides.
5) Start
a) Pilots who start too early will be considered as “compromising the result“. (ISSR / special Jury attention)
6) Sailing during races. a) Without permission of the race director, it is absolutely forbidden to sail while another race is in progress. Pilots who ignore this rule will be sanctioned.
7) Technical check
a) The Race Team can ask the Jury to perform a technical check and sail measurement at any given time.
8) Securing the yachts
a) When not sailing, pilots are obliged to secure their yachts to prevent them from moving on their own, or causing any damage to people or other yachts. This may be sanctioned and pilots will be held responsible for all damages caused by their yacht.
9) Lap Scoring
a) The counting of the races will be done manually by lap scorers.
b) The finish line will be a gate marked by two orange flags.
c) The gate must be crossed in each round of the race.
d) It is forbidden to cross the finish line outside the regatta.
10) Rigging and De-rigging of yachts
a) Yachts must be only be rigged and de rigged on the beach.
11) Accidents
a) Pilots (and others) who are involved in an accident, must stand upright ASAP in order to signal that they are not hurt badly.
12) Sail numbers
a) Each pilot must use the same sail number during the championship. This is the same number that was applied during the registration. Pilots who use a different sail number will not be scored. Pilots who use an unclear or hard to read sail number will also not be scored. (see ISRR)
13) Sponsoring
a) All pilots are asked to put the sponsor and event stickers provided by the organisation on their yacht as defined by the sailing instructions. (without sponsors it is hard to organise championships now or in the future)
14) Class specifications
a) Pilots remain responsible to follow the conformity of the class rules. The jury may ask the scrutineering team to check class specifications during the whole event.
b) If any anomalies are detected, the Jury may disqualify the pilot for all previous races sailed with this yacht. Two pilots will be appointed to assist the scrutineering.
c) Standart class will be managing scrutineering for the class, this will be done prior to the first race day
15) Race circuit
a) There is one race circuit: The race director will set the course according to conditions on the day this will be explained at the daily briefing. Numbers of pilots will also be regulated if it is deemed necessary due to wind / beach or regulatory conditions imposed on the organisers.
16) Number of yachts
a) WSLC is limited on the number of yachts that hand be sailing at any one time, hence the need to restrict to one class sailing at a time - No more than 50 landyachts may be permitted to sail over the Property at any one time between the beginning of April and the end of August, and up to 3 times between September and the end of March in any given year upon giving to the Owner notice within one month of setting the provisional dates for such events
17) Pilots and Registration
a) Each pilot must have a current FISLY ID 2025 at the time of the championships and in possession of a national license and civil liability insurance.
b) By signing this document, the pilot declares that he/she is medically fit for the practice of sandyachting in an amateur competition and in particular for an international championship.
c) Each pilot may be asked by the organisation or authorities to procure proof of documents, proving compliance of these documents.
d) Each pilot must complete the registration form on the website and pay the associated costs by the 31st July 2025. Which is 2 months before the start of the championship.
e) This registration must be confirmed by a member of FISLY or by FISLY.
18) Daily prize giving
a) There will be a daily prize giving location and timing to be defined.
19) Exclusion of responsibility
a) The organiser is Wirral Land Yacht Club(WLYC)/BFSLYC/Fisly. The organising committee, the race direction, the organising clubs and federations do not accept any responsibility over possible accidents, incidents or losses, be it personal or equipment-wise which occurred before, during or after the European championship. This also applies to parking places, the clubhouse and all permanent or non-permanent accommodation (on site or off side areas).
b) All safety prescriptions must be observed and respected.
20) Fair Play
a) A Fair Play attitude is expected from all pilots, volunteers and organisation.
